Erika is a qualified solicitor of over 25 years, originally practising in London as a litigator, first in private practice and then as in house counsel to a number of FTSE 100 companies. In 2010 Erika retrained to become a private client specialist and became a full member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners, having obtained a distinction in the prestigious STEP Diploma. Erika has a diverse range of skills, having managed a national private client team at a large national law firm based in Leeds, as well as having a broad depth of knowledge and experience in the private client field.

While the legal technical side of private client law is key, clients also need to feel comfortable asking questions and talking openly about what are often very personal matters. Erika pride’s herself in listening carefully, explaining things in plain English and making sure clients fully understand the choices they have, so they can achieve their goals. Her overarching aim is to give my clients thoughtful and tailored advice, so they feel able to make, what can sometimes be, difficult decisions with confidence.

Erika specialises in all aspects of private client work including Wills, trusts, complex estate and succession planning and all aspects of trust and estate administration (Probate) including the associated tax advice. In addition, she has expertise in advising clients on the law relating to mental capacity, lasting powers of attorney, and have acted as a professional deputy.

Erika has lived in York with her husband since 2000, and has two grown up children, both of whom now live in London. Family and friendships are hugely important to her, and when she has spare time, she enjoys Pilates, a weekly wild water swim, the odd live music festival as well as art, interiors, gardening, cooking and reading. Erika is also looking forward to exploring more of the Yorkshire countryside and coast with Blue, her golden doodle.
