The process that is followed in a typical debt claim is as follows:

37 days                              Follow up letter sent giving 14 days’ notice of intention to issue proceedings to   

comply with the Debt Pre Action Protocol

                                               

51 days                             Proceedings issued

                                               

65 days                             Defence filed or Judgment applied for

 

At any of these stages the debtor may decide to pay the debt.  If Judgment is obtained then enforcement action will be needed and the matter will take longer to resolve.

 

The timescale outlined above is also dependant on the Court processing the applications in a speedy manner.
