Matthew is the most recent addition to the firm, having joined us in June 2010. He has a background in agriculture and works alongside Michael Armstrong at our Thirsk office, specialising in agricultural property and private client matters, but with a broad experience in property matters generally.
Having obtained a degree in Agriculture from the University of Newcastle, Matthew subsequently pursued a career in the law and completed a Graduate Diploma in Law at the College of Law in York, where he also undertook his Legal Practice Course, attaining a commendation in both.
Matthew's legal career began at the firm of Burges Salmon in Bristol, where he was a Paralegal in the Agricultural Property Department, before moving to Barber Titleys in Harrogate as a trainee solicitor. During his training, Matthew gained experience in private client, matrimonial and property work and was admitted as a solicitor in July 2009.
Coming from a farming family, Matthew has an interest in agriculture and in the countryside generally and assists on the family farm whenever he can. Matthew plays cricket for his local village team and other interests include reading, walking and when the opportunity arises - skiing.
