Farming & Agriculture

Farming & Agriculture

Eccles Heddon and its predecessor firms have been serving the agricultural community since the early decades of last century. We are proud to continue to act for the present generation of some farming families for whose forbears the founder of our practice acted in the original acquisition of their farms.

A number of our practitioners have long-standing links with the farming world and we value this aspect of our work greatly. We have considerable experience in dealing with many kinds of agro-legal work, including the buying and selling of farms and land, agricultural tenancies of all types, agricultural mortgages, wayleaves and easements. This extends to consideration of the impact of taxation on agricultural transactions and landholdings with particular emphasis on inheritance tax planning. In this area of work we have strong and well-established links with local accountants and land agents who act for farming clients.

To discuss agricultural matters please contact Michael Armstrong, Martyn Clarke (Ripon), Alison Johnson (Bedale) or Oliver Riley (Thirsk).
